THX branded Blu-ray player coming

What generous site directors purchase for their poor, peasant staff writers.

Get your credit cards ready!

Falling prices of Blu-ray players is great news for average consumers (I happened to pick up a sub-$100 deck just last week), but electronics manufacturer Lexicon thinks there’s an unsatiated need for high-end players that cater to the super, filthy rich demographic.

To help appease robber barons and nobles alike, Lexicon plans to release its BD-30 player this September for the low price of $3,499 (only 125 small payments of $27.99!) – the first ever THX-certified Blu-ray deck with a laundry list of features that will make A/V enthusiasts drool.

“The idea, though,” says Marc Kellom, VP of marketing for Lexicon parent Harman International, “is to provide clients with a high-performance Blu-ray player to complement expensive systems.”

In addition to its fancy THX certification, the player will be able to decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio internally, will accept 7.1 PPCM signals over HDMI, utilizes Anchor Bay’s VRS technology, features load times under 5 seconds and enables full BD Live support.

So, I think I speak for everyone when I say I know what I’ll be asking my site director for Christmas this year.
