10. NIGHT OF THE CREEPS
RELEASE DATE – US: October 27th | UK: N/A

Fred Dekker’s 80s cult classic makes the unexpected leap to Blu-ray.

The predecessor to James Gunn’s Slither, Night of the Creeps combines aliens, zombies and slugs into one terribly fun B-movie. Genre veterans Tom Atkins and Jill Whitlow headline the campy thriller, which never loses steam throughout its 90-minute running time.

The film had disappeared for decades due to legal wrangling over the licensing rights, but has since been resurrected from obscurity by Sony. Patient fans will not only be rewarded with an unrated director’s cut, but Dekker’s preferred, original ending will be reedited into the film.

Perfect for Halloween.

9. STARGATE 15th ANNIVERSARY EDITION
RELEASE DATE – US: October 27th | UK: N/A

Has it really been that long?

It’s hard to fathom that it’s been fifteen years since Stargate hit theaters, but when you begin to lose track of all the television spin offs, miniseries, direct-to-video movies and merchandising, it makes you feel even older.

The 15th anniversary edition Blu-ray is looking to appease fans previously burnt by the initial Lionsgate reissue, which was by all accounts, a barebones release with a mediocre presentation. Loyal Stargate devotees will be receiving a brand new transfer, a lossless DTS-HD audio track, audio commentary, BD Live support, and both the theatrical and director’s cut via seamless branching.

Not a bad consolation prize, eh?

8. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
RELEASE DATE – US: October 6th | UK: N/A

Not quite fitting with our Halloween motif, Charlie Brown still secures a spot on the list thanks to pure nostalgia.

Arguably the most enduring animated Christmas special of all-time, A Charlie Brown Christmas gets the deluxe Blu-ray treatment courtesy of Warner Home Video. Not only has the footage been remastered and complemented with a 5.1 Dolby surround mix, but the Blu-ray will also include a second a Christmas-themed Peanuts episode and a documentary on the tense production of the animated classic.

For those with tykes, the Blu-ray release will included a standard definition DVD and digital copy, as well.
