The Hit List: Trick or Treat Edition
2. SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
RELEASE DATE – US: October 6th | UK: November 2nd
An enduring classic, appropriately listed on the American Film Institute’s list of the greatest American films of all-time, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs makes the highly anticipated leap to Blu-ray and is the flagship title for Disney’s new Diamond Collection.
Released in 1937, the animated film marked Walt Disney’s first, feature length effort, and went on to find unparalleled critical acclaim and mass commercial success.
Over 70 years later, Disney is reintroducing the classic tale to audiences with a completely restored, high definition transfer and a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack.
As part of its recently announced Diamond Collection, the two-disc set will incorporate all the bonus content from the film’s 2001 DVD release, in addition to additional supplemental material exclusive to Blu-ray, audio commentary and robust BD Live support.
Buoyed by a remastered transfer that has received early raves from critics, Snow White looks poised to be a landmark title for the fledgling Blu-ray format.
1. TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF FALLEN
RELEASE DATE – US: October 20th | UK: November 30th
Divisive, critically panned and potentially controversial, Michael Bay’s loud and brash Transformers sequel is also the biggest blockbuster of the entire year.
Geek hearthrob Shia LeBouf and sex idol Megan Fox return as two very unlikely lovers in the midst of a full-on galactic war between rival alien, robotic races in a film that is way, way too long. And Michael Bay gets paid to do what Michael Bay does best – blow up stuff real good.
For the home video release, Paramount has created a two-disc Blu-ray with an unbelievable amount of supplemental material and the promise of an audio/video presentation worthy of a reference track designation. We’re talking the stuff floor demonstrations are made of.
Transformers: Revenge on the Fallen is boasting audio commentary, a multi-chapter documentary on production, a video journal with director Michael Bay, a featurette celebrating twenty-five years of Transformers, concept artwork, pre-visualization artwork and extended scenes – on the first disc.
The Blu-ray release will also include an interactive feature allowing users to create customizable Autobots, a comprehensive database for each Transformers character (complete with 3D models, timelines, origins, etc.), a documentary on the film entitled “Giant Effing Movie”, and an archive of all of the film’s promotional media.
You will believe a two and a half hour ILM demo reel will be worth your money.
