Clerks, Chasing Amy heading to Blu-ray

What a lovely tea party.

What a lovely tea party.

Disney announced plans to bring arguably the two most defining works from Kevin Smith, Clerks and Chasing Amy, to Blu-ray on November 17th in the US.

Clerks will be presented in 1080p AVC with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track, and will include most of the supplemental material from the Clerks X (10th Anniversary) release. That includes the enhanced playback track, commentary from Clerks X, the infamous “Flying Car” bit filmed for Leno, the MTV videos with Jay and Silent Bob, the animated “Lost Scene”, etc.

New to the Blu-ray release is an original introduction to the film by Kevin Smith (in addition to the one filmed in 2004) and a feature on Jay and Silent Bob from their titular sequel, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. No mention of Blu-ray specific enhancements, but considering how tech savvy Smith is, it’d be a surprise if there wasn’t some kind of BD Live support.

Chasing Amy will be released the same date and day, host to a ton of new bonus material. That includes brand new commentary from Smith and producer, Scott Mosier, a documentary on the film itself, a new conversation taped between film characters and Q&A session with Smith and crew (a treat for fans of his Evening with Kevin Smith documentaries).

It’s nice to see Kevin Smith retroactively erasing Mallrats from his so-called Jersey trilogy.
