Universal finally dated and detailed the Blu-ray disc for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, due to hit both US and UK territories in December – just in time for the holidays.

The two-disc Blu-ray set, sporting a 2.39:1-framed, 1080p transfer and Dolby DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless track, will be available in the UK on December 7th and in the US on December 15th – with a sweet set of supplemental material as well.

Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds is an imaginative, spaghetti western take on World War II; produced for only $70 million, but going on to gross $300 million worldwide. Basterds turned out to be one of Tarantino’s most well-received films of the decade, and garnered Christopher Waltz early Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Col. Hans Landa.

The Blu-ray set, in addition to its impressive audio and visual presentation, touts extended and alternate takes, a gag reel, production featurettes, Nation’s Pride (the film featured within the film), photo gallery, trailers, a roundtable discussion and BD Live functionality – among other items.

Arguably one of the best films of the summer, Inglourious Basterds could turn out to be a major coup for Blu-ray owners in dire need of gift suggestions for the holidays.
