Anime + Halo = Smelly nerds.

Warner Bros. finally dated and detailed Halo Legends, the seven-part animated anthology, set to hit store shelves on February 9th, 2010 – the same day as both the standard definition and digital download releases.

The two-disc Blu-ray set will include all seven animated tales (for a total running time of roughly two hours), an audio commentary track with Frank O’Connor and Joseph Chou, special introductions for each segment, a featurette on the cultural significance of the franchise and exclusive Blu-ray feature that summarizes the entire Halo storyline up until Halo 3.

Halo Legends is the brainchild of 343 Industries, the unit entrusted with propagating the Halo mythos across all mediums, and helmed by former Bungie community director Frank O’Connor. Various segments will be produced by different studios, including Production I.G. and Toei Animation, offering separate takes on the popular franchise.

Fans can now view excerpts from the series on the Halo Waypoint, which just launched with the most recent dashboard update for the Xbox 360.

… 360 owners, however, will not be able to play the Blu-ray upon its release. Tee hee.
