There’s actually quite a lot of Blu-ray exclusive extras here — most of them just happen to NOT be in high-definition. What’s up with that?

There’s the requisite commentary, which is a fun, light-hearted affair with director Marc Webb, writers Scott Neaustadter and Michael Weber, and Gordon-Levitt. There’s even commentary on the extended and deleted scenes, which is a nice touch.

There’s also the making-of-featurette and storyboards and short filmmaking specials and audition tapes — all interesting stuff if you’re really into the movie. You might want to check out the “Bank Dance” video multiple times if you’re a big fan of Zooey. And the Sid and Nancy short is amusing as well.

BIAS:
I’m not a rom-com person — which guy is? And I’m still on the fence with regards to both the storytelling rating and the final verdict. I figured I’d round up the former due to my inherent negative bias, but the former will possibly end up being conservative.

And despite me mentioning Zooey Deschanel’s attractiveness a few times, I’m not a huge fan of her either. I do think she was a good choice for the role, though. She has that indie cred!

I *do* love Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He’s the best part of the film, so it’s a good thing he’s the main part of it.

I think the bottom line with me is that I went into the film expecting to want to vomit at times (and the scene where Tom and Summer meet in the elevator and bond over The Smiths made me come close), but I was pleasantly surprised. So I think that if I could enjoy it with that terrible attitude going in, just about anyone will, and possibly even more.

Did I say I was going to be conservative with the final verdict? I lied. Or I just convinced myself otherwise writing that last paragraph out.
